Lots of those pictures look like the sea lions were hanging motionless in front of my camera, but actually they were charging around all over the place. I'd try and point the camera in their general direction, click the shutter and hope for the best. Most of the pictures I quietly tucked away in a corner of my computer since they're just a blurry flipper or shapeless portion of a sea lion body smeared across the lens. I don't know what I'd do without big memory cards.
 
Did they follow you around for the whole dive? In the pics of the rocks just above the fortifications pictures is that a sea lion sitting there?

Pretty much (I assume you're talking about the sea lions at the Coronados). They were all over the place in the shallows, but even 60 feet deep, there was usually one or two dive-bombing me.

No. I think that's a piece of driftwood. I've never seen sealions hauling out around Victoria other than at Race Rocks and Trial Island.
