Hello. I know that someone has already opened a thread to post question, but I can't find it anymore.

Life is hard on us and we have to return to Sipadan, 5D/4N mid December 09 with my wife, my son who is 5 years old, a couple of friends and my mother in law who is, well... my mother in law. :bat:

I have stayed 2 years ago at the Kapalai resort which is very good, however I have 2 questions related to the Mabul water bungalows resort:

- Do they share the Sipadan dive permit with the SMART resort and that would mean reducing to nill the probability to win the permit lottery ? Considering we stay there for 3 full days "only".

- How would you rate the quality of that resort compared to Kapalai in terms of food, service and accommodation quality.

Kapalai is great but is rather limited for non-divers, especially my mother in law :bat:

Many thanks in advance for your answers :-)

Hi Pacru,

Mabul Water Bungalows and SMART are two different resorts even though they are managed by the same parent company. However, they do not share dive permits.

- How would you rate the quality of that resort compared to Kapalai in terms of food, service and accommodation quality.
Both these resorts are considered A+ resorts but each has its plus and minus points. There is really very little difference when it comes to the variety of food served (both resorts offer international+local buffet spread), and service & accomodation is top notch. Have a look at a footage video of Mabul Water Bungalows here and maybe that will give you a clearer picture of what the resort looks like.

Hope that helps.

Thanks On The Spot.
Given the dates and the answers of both resorts. We willl go most probably... again... to the Kapalai resort.
Tarima Kaseh!

When I asked that question directly of the resort, they said they *do* share permit allocation

My Question to them:
Thank you for the reply and explanation of the situation regarding Sipadan.

Are the 14 allocated slots split between both Mabul Water Bungalow and SMART or does each of your resorts have their own 14 allocations?

Thanks again for the quick reply.

Russell

The resorts response:
Please note that the 14 quotas will split between Mabul Water Bungalow and SMART .
