I guess I should introduce myself....Been lurking here for a while. Just got back from the West Indies, and a reintroduction to diving. I was certified in 1973 in the Phillippines, but kind of lost interest when I came back to the Midwest....no place really good to dive locally, and the water is colder than I like.

The trip to the warm waters of the West Indies rekindeled scuba for me. My wife dove for the first time and loved it (AHHH I can see the credit card running for cover) so buying "Scuba Toys" shouldn't be to much of a problem. She went to the dive shop on her own when we got back and bought her own mask/snorkel and fins..... she actually got some decent basic gear.

I guess I won't have to much trouble telling her that I bought a 3/2 full suit today on my lunch hour :)

Good to have you on-board. You may have to do the same thing I did. I dedicated one of our spare rooms to scuba equipment. My wife refers to it as the auxilary dive shop.
Enjoy the board and dive safe.

Welcome to Scubaboard. Great to hear you've rediscovered your interest in diving. Sounds like you and your wife have a new joint activity...did she get certified in the West Indies?

Getting the better half involved in scuba will certainly help you dispose of your disposable income! It's easier for you to justify buying things. Of course she needs her own set of gear and toys, too.

I am multiply blessed that my wife and I share multiple outdoor intrests. Our basement resembles an auxilary sporting goods store. :D Just about any activity costs us double, but that's OK.

After 25 years, we still have the most fun spending time together.

I'm going to try and keep costs down (yeah right). She's hasn't done the cert yet. She did the resort one day thing and got hooked:D ... since it was the off season, she got to do multiple dives, on several days. Gotta love the slow season:)

We are going to get her the basic stuff. So far she is almost geared. We still need to find her a wetsuit that fits and a weight belt. The wetsuit is going to be a problem. She has legs a mile long. She is an inch shorter than me, so I let her try my wetsuit on to get an idea of where to start for size..... it was pretty funny. She has a short body and long legs. Looks like a custom suit or a farmer John.

The tanks, regs, bc, etc will be rented, since we have to travel several hours for the nearest decent place to dive. And with our work schedual, it's going to not be often enough to justify owning.

Hi
Welcome to the board.
My wife and I began diving in 1989 and have been buddy diving since then. It is an enjoyment to dive together.

Happy and safe diving

Ron
