bet you didnt know that WD40 means "water displacer 40th formula" :) developed by NASA for keeping circuit boards water free and found to be great as a lubricant. I use it on my nickel plated snaps and even they work great.
 
Yep, I just spray some WD40 on nearly all my moving parts before a dive trip.
 
Yes...WD40...How’s that on the coral reef ...?
Probably no worse than a cruise ship parking on one..........

Forget parking on a reef, just what a working ship deposits into the ocean on a daily basis. Heck, even what's just washing off the decks.

All for being eco-friendly, but the impact of lubing the few bolt snaps is minuscule.
