Their website says reopening soon...in 2006...and says last updated March 2006. Not real promising gotta wonder if there's anyone home. Sounded like it would be a good place to check out if it really happened, I wonder too.

Wasn't this a premier resort for Belize? Can is disappear without anyone knowing any information? I saw that website before I posted this and thought the reopening in Summer 2006 notice disturbing.

No one ever responded to that belize forum post. I guess the place is dead if no one on this board has a blue about it. Shame.

So, what's the best place to stay now on the outta atolls (that's not a liveaboard)?

We stayed at the (VERY RUSTIC) Glover's Atoll Resort and were in heaven - fantastic diving and snorkeling from shore. There are several other resorts on neighboring islands, more amenities but much more expensive; Isla Marisol springs to mind. Several lodges on Turneffe, too. Haven't been there but would sure like to go - diving for me and fishing for my husband.

Blackbird Caye resort is also quite nice and on the atolls. We stayed at LCR the last year it was open and I understand why is it closed. It was an extremely disappointing experience. The boat was horrible (belching black smoke that just about killed us), the staff were apathetic--including most of the DMs and especially management. Thankfully the diving was too good to be ruined!
