i'm finishing my degree in the next couple of months, in my gap year i fell in love with being underwater and progressed to my AOW, its a few years on and i want to take this experience to the next level and achieve my RD and my DM!
unfortunately i have lost my logbook... as this is vital to progressing in diving has anyone got any helpful tips on what to do? ideally i would like a new logbook with the dives i did during my OW and AOW to be logged as well.
help would be greaty appreciated :)

With whom did you complete your OW & AOW training and subsequent dives? It is possible that someone - your instructor, an assisting DM, a fellow student/buddy - still has this information somewhere in their own logs.

dive-logs.com sells log books, replacement pages and other stuff. There are others who do as well. I would start as soon as you can to recreate all of the book you can. If you have a buddy you dove with on any of the dives, they may have data to share. Good luck!

As per divemasterdennis, if you need a logbook for a binder (ie. pages you print out yourself) PM me (or click here/ read my next post lower down), I've made my own that are fairly similar to what you'd pick up according to my local LDS. 2 per 8.5x11 page, just slice em and punch em and you're set.

Although it won't help you obtain the data, you could get software such as subsurface. It runs on mac/windows/linux, is free, and can print a hardcopy of your log data to show to a shop or whatever. There's a lot of other software out there as well, but this one is free and written by none other than Linus Torvalds.

Due to the amount of PMs I got (cool!) you can now find my .pdf for free online on my website. If you have any feedback or items to add to make this more universal, email me!

So, your entire dive history was written in a physical thing, made of atoms, and now it's gone, along with all of that important data.

Hmmm... if only there was some way of storing that information in a way that allows you to include unlimited supplementary data (like dive profiles and images), back it up, print it out, keep it on your phone, keep in on a website, etc...

:)

Seriously, if this doesn't convince you to use a digital log, nothing will...
