As the number of Atomic regulators in our house keeps going, it is becoming pretty expensive to keep them all serviced. Being fairly mechanically inclined (and curious), I would like to get to the point where I can service my own regulators.

That being said, I've ordered Harlow's book and will likely be picking up Regulator Savvy book as well, down the road. What I need a bit of help with is the tool list to work on Atomic regs; I'm looking into getting a set of Deep6 regs as well, but right now Atomics is what we have and use (and love).

Given that all 4 sets of our regs are sealed Z2's this what I was looking at:
Atomic Packing Tool
1" Yoke Nut Socket
3" x 3/8 Drive Extension
Atomic First Stage T-Tool with Piston Bullet
Atomic Pin-Lok First Stage Tool
Atomic Second Stage T-Tool
Magnehelic Gauge needed? I was planning on using the 'ol bathtub.
IP Gauge - Universal Inflator
Second Stage In-Line Adjusting Tool w/IP Gauge
Brass O-ring Pick Set
2 Tanks - 1 @500-600psi; 1 @ full (3000psi)
HF Ultrasonic Cleaner .... whenever the 20% rolls around.

**Atomic Z2 guinea pig reg set hahaha

What am I missing? Anything different to suggest? Also, I've found the service material for Atomics on frogkick, is there anything else out there (exploded diagram of both first and 2nd stages would be great)?

Depending on how anal you want to go (or if you are a habitual over-tightener), you might need torque wrenches (most likely a ft/lb and an in/lb) and the appropriate fittings.

I am assuming you have access to parts kits as well? I'm not an Atomic guy, so I don't know how protective they are of their kits.

For a magnehelic I am a big fan of this one: Dual Pro Stand, 0-3 Magnehelic, IP Gauge, Four SpinOn Adapters

Oh and $860 worth of Christolube!

I knew I was forgetting something, yeah torque wrench in/lb is added to the list. I've got a ft/lb for automotive use but I feel like that's waaaay overboard for this application.

As far as the parts kits, I've found a few places online that sell them, though I'm not sure if the price is "good" or if I should try to buy o-rings in bulk, but I feel like other parts might be harder to come by on their own. For christolube, I may need to find a bulk source depending on how much it takes to seal a reg, because at 30 + bucks for a 2 oz tube is going to add up.

I'm servicing a bunch of Dive Rites currently and there are torque settings for 20 and 25 ft lbs and 125 in lbs. You'll have to check the manual to see what you need.

You also might not want to cross contaminate with a auto use wrench, pretty high probability of contaminating your regs with petrochemicals.

Looking through what's on frogkick I didn't see torque specs listed. There is another manual on Scuba toys I'll look through as well.

Scubatools also has a tool to properly pack christolube for an environmental seal.

Definetly. Already on the list.

In other news.... Does anyone know where one can source an exploded diagram of Atomic Z2 1st/2nd stages?

I moved duplicate tools I needed over from shop use, cleaned them and just use them on the reg bench , no dual use. I find buying non brand specific tools from other sources than a scuba specific site is less expensive. I have been known to DIY some tools on occasion.

As for an ultrasonic cleaner, I've been using the larger one one from Harbor Freight, was on sale for $70, for several years now, it may not be what I really want but it works.

Look in the VintageDoubleHose site manuals and catalogs section. You may find what you need in the Atomic Reg zipped folder.
