Hi there, I am looking for tips for using the Ikelite DS161. I have a Canon S90 and Ikelite housing.

Let me state right up front: I am a novice. I'm in eager learn mode. So please be gentle with me.

I have taken one underwater photography class and am signed up to take another one. I have also met with my LDS resident master photographer for a brief introductory overview until he has more time to spend with me.

I went out on Saturday and used my new toy (the DS161) for the first time. My photos were okay but over lit. I realize now that leaving on my video light instead of using the strobe for individual shots was a mistake. I will correct that when I go out diving again tomorrow.

Any ideas and/or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and if you want to see some of the photos I took, check out my blog: Reef Rants

Thank you in advance.

leaving video light on should not matter..Stobe is more powerfull than the video light. f you do not have/use ttl then lower power on the ev controller ..Is the strobe set to ttl? it has to be on ttl for the ev controller to work properly.

The video lite goes out for a short time when the strobe is triggered, thus not showing up in the photo.
