I purchased a mako k14-85 around 2 years ago. I didn't pay much for it and it has served me and my wife well. It's probably paid for itself 3 times.

I recently built a blend stick and before I started blending nitrox I disassemble and cleaned the internals of the compressor and l It looked brand new before I started cleaning.

I know this compressor is from probably 1962 and I've been told that the parts from K14 mod6 will fit except for the final stage.

Is there anywhere that has surplus parts or maybe a retro fit that could update the final.

I know this compressor is old but there's something good about a 55 year old compressor that is still going strong and gives more cfm than is rated for.

I get my oil from filter techs. They are one that told me about k14 mod 6 fits most but not all parts.

I'll give August industries a call Monday morning.

I might even consider buying another same model compressor for a back up/donor compressor. I don't need over 3300 psi and if I did I have a booster

Thanks for the link to August

Porter Stiles at August will be happy to sell you a spare K14 block. They only cost $3-4K used (grin). I plan to just fix mine when it breaks and maintain it when it doesn't. Seriously, he's a nice guy with reasonable prices, but if you want a spare compressor or block, talk to your local fire equipment companies. Something suitable will probably come along at a very low price when a fire department upgrades. I got a spare K15 block and motor for our club for something like $200 from one with 304 hours (not a typo, I really do mean three hundred four hours) on it that was being scrapped (!) because it won't charge modern HP SCBA tanks. Sooner or later I expect to score a K14 again. These things have a 30K hour design life, so there's no rush.

I scored this k14 for an old gentlemen in nc for $700. It was clean and well taken care of.he said it was in his shop. The old man gave me a sticker and I actually sent some National Geographic books that he was in dive the Andrea Doria for him to sign. His house was like a museum. I made me really sad to him selling it because he couldn't dive do to a messing up his hand.
I forgot his name I'll look it up
