heading to the island for 10 days and would like to do a bunch of Shore dives, I have one member of our party that dives but I don’t think he’s up for as much diving as I want to do anybody going to be there who needs a dive buddy?

Where are you planning to shore dive? Please write a report after you return, have a great trip!

Planning on turtle reef, lighthouse point, Devils Grotto and any others I can find. Planning on diving the kittiwake and some wall dives as well from the boat. Should be a great week we can’t wait to get there!

Sounds like fun! Unlike Bonaire, the Grand Cayman shore dives usually have an onsite dive op and you will rent tanks from them. The shore dives that I know of include Coconut Bay/Hepp's (Stingray Divers), Cobalt Coast (Reef Divers), Lighthouse Point (DiveTech), Turtle Reef (Sundivers), Eden Rock and Devil's Grotto (Eden Rock), and Sunset House (Sunset Divers).

The tanks and weights usually cost around $15 to $17 per tank and they have rinse tanks and other facilities on site. The Eden Rock dive op charges extra per pound for the weights - and they are often inundated with cruise ship divers so go early or late to avoid the crowds.

If you arrange some boat diving (e.g., Kittiwake, Stingray City, North Wall) for a day with one of the ops that also offers onsite shore diving (Stingray, Reef Divers, DiveTech, and Sunset) you can usually get free shore diving on the day(s) that you book boat diving with them.

We brought our own weights with us in our carry ons and were able to get a little cheaper rate at most of the shore diving sites with just getting a tank. $5 a dive adds up! And 10 lbs in a backpack wasn't too bad to lug around the airport.
