Hi!

Was diving Buhlman tables with gradient factors so far but would like to switch to
VPM or RGBM. Does anyone now a good decompression program. I would prefer a program for my palm or phone.

thanks!

I'm not a deco guy (yet) so this should be taken with a grain of salt. I have a newer version (GUE (graphical user interface not global underwater explorers) included, rather than the old dos version) of Zplanner. That uses the buhlman b and c algorythms. I've used the free version of V-Planner ( i think it uses the vpm model) It seems pretty good (in my extremely limited experience). But you have to pay to use any mix over 50% O2 (I think)

Again, I've never actually used them underwater, so take it for what its worth....

Hello,

if you are looking for a deco program to use on your JAVA phone you can check out JDeco! You can find it here: www.jdeco.de

It includes Bühlmann with GF and VPM-B (for MIDP 2.0 phones, which are standard nowadays). Overview:

* Intuitive user interface
* Bühlmann ZHL16B algorithm with Erik Baker's gradient factors
* Varying Permeability Model (VPM-B)
* Gas mixing and topping calculations
* Altitude dives
* Repetitive dives
* Single-depth (square profile) or multi-level dives
* Allows user editable gas mixtures containing Helium, Oxygen, and Nitrogen
* Metric or imperial units
* One click variation of bottom times and depths (changes are customizable)
* One click decogas loss calculations
* Display of run time, stop time, or both
* Option to lengthen gas switching deco stops to maximize O2 window
* Estimates OC gas consumption (backgas and all deco gas)
* Calculates CNS and OTU

Dive safe and have fun!

Henning

i use voyager.. and im happy with it..
hasnt bent me yet for what its worth.
i see a fair amount of people using v planner and the capt. of the boat says v planner is the way to go. and he knows what hes talkin about. so i think im gonna check it out myself.....
so i dunno if i was any help to ya.. but i hope ya get what ya need.

ive used v-planner, deco planner, abyss, gap, some others. they all work well but deco planner doesnt go past 500 ft.

Thanks for all the information. I tried now the trial version of V-Planner and also the trial version of JDeco. Bought actually JDeco since I can have it on my phone and it gives me almost to the minute the same times.

@Diesel298: is it V-Planner one should have or is it ok with a program that gives the same decompression tables? Ask your captain he might have an answer :wink:

I have registered v-planner I will probably register GAP, I had abyssal it was junk.
Of the 2 I am undecided. There are some changes Ross made to the newer version of v-planner I don't care for but it is a solid program and has worked well for me. The new version of the GAP had some bugs, I pointed them out and Kees posted an updated version the next day. Can't beat that kind of service.
