Hello all

My family and I are planning on visiting Bonaire for 2 months in the summer of 2010. We need to find a long term rental agency or property that will rent by the month. Anyone have any ideas? Or ideas and opinions on Bonaire in general?

Thanks

Cam

Being from Canada I think you should spend the two months during January and February and not the summer. But I am still jealous that you get to stay there that long. Enjoy

Your best bet is to do as Boat Chick says. Long term rentals are available on island. You may also want to try Bonaire Partners, offering over 45 fine vacation accommodations on Bonaire. | bonaire | partners | accommodation | holiday | vacation | apartment | rental | short | long | netherlands

Also check with smaller resorts/properties. Some of us have villas/apartments that can suite long term such as 2 months. For example, we have a 2 bedroom, yacht club apts have a 3 bedroom, etc. You can check some of the smaller places at either Bonaire Hotel and Tourism Association: Hotels, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling and Windsurfing Information or Info Bonaire - The Bonaire Information Site - The Most Current and Up-To-Date Information

Thanks.

The only time that the whole family can get away for that length of time is when my son is on summer holidays. I work overseas all winter as well.

I'm not complaining though, 2 months in divers paradise is good any time of year.:D

I don't know if e-mail is the most efficient or if I should just call a realtor?

Cameron,

Either way, email or calling will do well you. I would suggest emailing first, and if you don't get a response, call.

So how does the unlimited 24hr diving thing work? Do you just drop off a tank and pick up another? Can I take 4 tanks for the day or is there a limit?

I can only refer to the dive shop I've used on each of our trips, so others may be different... Buddy Dive asks that you only take 2 tanks per person at a time, but you can drop those off and pick up more as many times as you want. The drive thru tank pick up at Buddy Dive has set hours, but there are tanks available 24 hrs. a day by the dock. They cover all of that in the orientation.

Cameron,

It depends on who you dive with. Wannadive allows unlimited tanks normally. The great thing is that you can take a few tanks (let's say for 2 dives per person) so not to be loaded up. The good thing about Wannadive is that they have 4 locations where you can pick up and drop of tanks. South of the airport at Windsock, In town at their City Cafe location, north of town at Eden Beach Resort, and even further north at our place.

Liz is right on about Wannadive. I would pick up three or four, so I had enough for the day (we dove, snacked, dove, snacked, dove, snacked). I used the Windsock Location this time, but stopped by Eden a couple of times when Windsock didn't have nitrox. Best thing about Wannadive, you have access 24/7 to pick up or drop off tanks.
