Long shot. Anyone know where to get DSS wing locator rubber nipples?

I know I don't need them and I've only had one for many years but now I really want to get them. I also know there are many other alternate ways to secure them and that's not what I want to do. Googling rubber nipples didn't help me any. Closest thing I could find was CPU fan isolating nipples but they OD was way too small. I'd 3D print something but I don't have a material durable enough to stay together being pulled as much as these would be.

I bet they were something that Tobin had made up to his spec. He had a connection for injection molding (computer boots, hose hats etc.) or perhaps he did it in-house. He had a lot of toys. I doubt you will find a source for them now that DSS is gone.

As referenced above:

I don't want to have to bring something that isn't self retaining that I WILL lose or need tools for. I have tons of options if i want to use fasteners and/or bring a screwdriver. I should have mentioned but I went through all of Grainger, mcmaster carr, etc. I looked for nipple and only found threaded and pipe nipples. And the rubber section netted me nothing useful.
You are probably right in that it's a one off. I may get some solid rubber and make one of these. What ever happened to Tobin btw? He had a great product.

You could just 3D print it in TPU filament which is very flexible and 'rubber-like'

Back when Tobin was still in business and active here, he was pretty adamant that these, while helpful, are not necessary to the proper functioning of his DSS plate and wing. Way back when I still used his STA-less setup, I had one go and he graciously sent me replacements. But that was YEARS ago. I would honestly just tryi going without them.

@TT_Vert If you just need a couple, I’ve got two that I thought I’d need and never did. DM me your address. (With the “big window” DSS wings I kinda see the utility, but still helpful but not necessary.)

(Unless anyone wants to start a bidding war…)

They’re definitely injection molded; pretty firm (maybe 92 duro). This design would be tough to FDM print, mostly because the pull stress would be directly in line with the layers.

Thanks,
divesergeant was kind enough to send me some. That's exactly my thought as far as layer separation when pulling. The other option is to print it 90 deg to that axis and use supports.

Yeah I had considered it but given you sort of pull on these to put them in I feel TPU would just have layer separation. I could try to print it in a 90 deg. orientation to prevent that but that would require supports I really don't want to deal with. I may design one (In fact, I think i will to pay it forward) and print a test one and provide the STL here given there is a bit of demand for it. I would likely throw it on thingyverse.

Yep, Tobin and I spoke on this very topic many years ago. He offered to send me some but I never did follow through. I have dived this rig for many years w/ only 1. It's just there to help locate the wing until you cinch down the tank. It's not going anywhere after that. With that said, I'm getting OCD in my old age :D

Ok, took a few seconds and threw this design together if anyone wants to print any of these. It is dimensionally identical to the one I have on hand. STL attached, feel free to print, modify and use. Please do not sell, not that anyone here would.
