Afternoon lobster diving turned deadly in Fort Lauderdale when authorities recovered a body from the waters near Harbour Isles.

At 12:56 p.m., reports came in of a diver in distress near South Ocean Drive and Grace Drive in Fort Lauderdale, police said. Broward County Sheriff Fire Rescue, Fort Lauderdale Police and Fire Rescue responded and found a diver dead.

Authorities say the diver was in his 50s. When police spoke to his three friends they said they were lobster diving when the man died. The diver’s identity was not released.
