Does anyone have any experience with Living Underwater. They use 100 cu ft steel tanks (good), say they don't charge extra for special destinations (Punta Sur, Maracaibo etc) but of course they are more expensive. Anyway I've been emailing back and forth with Jeremy and they sound good, but I'd love to hear from people who've dived (gr.?) with them. Basically is the cost justified? Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

Plongeursousmarin,

My wife and I have dove with Living Underwater on our last seven trips to Cozumel. Our most recent trip was three weeks. We dove with Jerermy for two days while we were in the process of closing on a house.

Jeremy uses PST 95 and 120 low pressure steel tanks which are full at 2400. Our have always been at or near 3000.

Very slow diving. Plenty of time to see little things. Always small groups of from 2 to a max of 6. Dry towels, fresh fruit and cookies, dry parkas and twin 150's on the back to get you there in a hurry.

We have dove with similar operations like Aldora and Liquid Blue but like Living Underwater better. And no I don't own stock in the company just wish I did.

PM me if you want more details.

Jim

We dove with LU in 2003..Jeremy was our DM. I know lots has changed since then, but it was a positive experience. The only challenge we had was the first day when their small boat (which were being rented at the time) broke-down and then conditions worsened such that only the bigger boats were allowed out of the harbor. We went with Apple at Dive Paradise for that day and returned to LU for the remaining 4 days.

The big tanks were great, especially for Devil's Throat where the extra gas allowed for a more relaxed dive/ascent. One of our dives, I forget where, we simply ran out of reef and still had ~1200 psi left. The only downside to the lp120s is they are BIG. Once you are up sitting on the gunwale, you pretty much ride the tank into the water.

Jeremy works hard to provide a good experience. The 120's are great. For me the extra money is worth it. I can get as much underwater time in two dives as with three with 80's. By the time I have spent two and a half hours and more diving, I am ready to go back to the beach and rest (until the night dive).
