Living & Diving in Pohnpei

Hey all-

I will be working in Pohnpei, Micronesia for about 1 year. I do not yet know exactly where I will be staying on the island.

Any suggestions on who to dive with while I am there? After a quick Google search, the only place I found for diving was "The Village." I am assuming there are more operations on the island than just this one. No?

Suggestions on the best spot to live on the island, as far as diving convenience goes, would also be appreciated.

Any other tips that you have would also be great!

I too am having problems getting any information regarding the dive operators in Pohnpei. Even the emails on the tourism site are bouncing back. I did manage to email this dive operator joy_ponape@mail.fm" <joy_ponape@mail.fm> without it bouncing back but I have not had a response as of yet.

Here's some feedback from customers I've had that have dove Pohnpei... people have liked it. I've really only had a few sets of customers that have talked about diving it over the years, but they seemed to prefer the diving on Pohnpei and Kosrae over Yap.

When are you coming? I have been living on Pohnpei for six months now, so I have somewhat of an inside scoop. PM me if you want more info. I am more than happy to help and we can even go diving together if you come to visit. However, if you are coming to the area, make it a priority to dive Chuuk and Palau. I am in Palau now and just left Chuuk. Amazing!
