Hey! Im looking for a good place to do a liveaboard(or a good spot for land based diving in July, basically anywhere on the planet. Price of the liveaboard should not be more than 2k dollars ish. Any recommendations? (I know i've posted a liveaboard thread before, please bare with me)
Ive looked into maldives but Seeing as it is rainy season which reduce the vis makes it less interesting.
Also checked out Tiger beach liveaboards (this could be done living on land aswell, to save some cash) but then again July is hurricane season there so im not too sure.

Any other suggestions?

Cheers guys!

A budget for airfare plus live-aboard would be more realistic. Paying big airfare costs to reach a cheap live-aboard isn't always a better deal.

Now that I'm home and on a computer instead of an iPad, I see you're located in Sweden. I'm geographically challenged so I went to Google Maps to see what you're close to. Nothing warm! Looks like you're roughly as far from Florida & the Caribbean as you are from some Indonesian locations.

I've noticed on other threads people often claim diving is substantially better in Indonesia than the Caribbean. I've only dove Florida & the Caribbean in terms of salt water diving, but I'll take their word for it. That might narrow 'anywhere on the planet' down. I believe it was Captain Sinbad in some other threads who's mentioned Thailand as a place with cheap diving (live-aboard I think?). You might start looking there. I don't know what that part of the world looks like weather-wise in July.

Richard.

I was at a major scuba dive show last weekend and Caradonna (a dive travel agency that we have booked with many times in the past) was advertising lots of liveaboard specials all over the world, including 2 Caribbean specials:

Turks and Caicos Explorer II , 7 nights from $1995 US pp/dbl (fly to Provo, a British island)

Saba/St. Kitts Caribbean Explorer II, 7 nights from $1695 US pp/dbl (departure dates include July 4, fly to St Maarten, a Dutch and French island)

Try contacting them at caradonna.com and ask about the liveaboard specials they promoted at Our World Underwater in Chicago last weekend

Well there are options for both land based and live aboards from Phuket this time of year. The live aboard option will be a 3 day trip is the normal taking in Phi Phi, Hin Daeng, Hin Maung, Koh Haa and Shark point among others. This time of year is "low season" but in Phuket the weather can be great or it can be wet. It varies week to week. The day trips here run 365 days per year and we go to Phi Phi, Shark point, King Cruiser wreck, Racha Noi and Yai, Koh Doc Mai. Diving As I say in July we can have clear skies, flat seas just with a bit of rain at night. It can rain for a day or two non stop but the norm is 1 hour very heavy heavy rain then it moves on. Many of the dive sites are in the shelter of the islands so the water is still calm it can just be the ride too and from the diving that can be bumpy. The boats are large with space to relax inside if raining outside and the food is always served in the main cabin. It just means when raining the sun deck is not really possible.

I have not been but reading about it, it seems rather mediocre for the price. I was looking into a liveaboard + flights for a little under 2k dollars, going to "simply the best" but for that money and a few hundred dollars more the options are great and sounding a lot more intriging.
I do not have a proper budget, I'll kinda just go with what seems good, which is why I didn't write anything about the flight costs limits, as cheap as possible ofc :)

I can really recommend a liveaboard in the Red Sea.
The flight from Sweden is shorter and probably cheaper than flying to Asia or the Americas.

On a liveaboard you'll be able to visit the best spots of the Red Sea, far away from the dayboat and landbased trips.
I did a 2week-long "Best of the Red Sea"-tour on the Golden Dolphin III a few years ago, visiting the highlights in the south.
Brother Islands, Daedalus, St. John's, Fury Shoal, ...
many sharks, even schools of hammerheads and thresher sharks, very colourful and intact reefs, wrecks,...
Many boats offer 2week-tours in summer.

Croatian liveaboard one week. For example contact Divetravelfinland in Åbo, Finland. They have a trip in late July for 1295 euros. Everyone can speak some English, maybe 30% of the guests will speak fluent Swedish, maybe more.

Check for dive shops in Sweden that have trips. From a small country like W/in Scandinavia it's really nice to have the whole boat booked for people from the same country and make the trip to Croatia/Egypt/else together. It creates a very nice atmosphere of extra comraderie, or even just cooperation and consideration. You may very well meet people who will become lifelong dive buddies and invite you on more trips in the future.

This sounds interesting, doing some wrecks and sweet reefs + the shark spots. I haven't found a single "best of" trip tho :( Any advice on where to look? which companies etc

I have now decided on the maldives (as it is about the same price as a red sea liveaboard) Im having a hard time chosing between Noth Male, South Male, Rasdhoo, Ari & Raa atolls 11 days/10 nights - 2200 dollar
VS
"The best of maldives" Rasdhoo Atol, North Ari Atoll, South Ari Atoll, South Male Atoll, Vaavu Atoll,North Male Atoll 8 Days/7Nights - 1150 dollars.
Which of these places would you go? Considering price and Manta encounters etc!

Im going to post this in the maldive section aswell.

Have you looked into the Yasawa Princess? We are considering them for July 2015. It appears that they have a great deal to offer. I have read good (but few) reviews and came to this forum seeking additional information. If we decide to book, I'll let you know. We are looking at the 20-27 July sailing.
