I'm new to this forum. Hello!

I am going on my first live aboard to the Maldives in a couple of weeks. I think I've read that when staying on a liveaboard in the Maldives, most dives tend to be drift dives. I have all my basic equipment but would like some advice as to any additional equipment that I may need to have, ie suface marker bouys.

Many thanks:)

It was great! I'm still grinning..

I answered my own questions and used a SMB several times, since it was all drift diving with quite stong current on occasions. Sometimes we flew under water, ending up quite far from the boat. Additional kit some people had was a reef hook, which we discussed the pros and cons for.

Saw many many white tip sharks, grey reef sharks, mantas at a manta cleaning station and watched them for 15 minutes while cleaner wrasses went to work, just wonderful. My highlight had to be seeing a leopard shark at 15m at the end on a wonderful drift dive resting on the sand.

If you're considering the Maldives, I would certainly recommend it.
