If you are flexible in your travel plans I suggest that you wait until about 90 days before your want to vacation and check the lobe a boards out.
I booked a group trip on a vessel, will not mention the name, for June 2012! Our group booked a year in advance and we all wound up paying full price for the charter. The boat was full and my group found out that the remaining 10 people all saved $500 by booking closer to the charter.
I also due to a late cancellation paid a $1000. Later cancellation fee for not turning in 1 spot on time., I admitted I was at fault, but I did help someone save $500 as they did fill the charter,
anyhow we wil not schedule charter for our shop as we used to as we now found a way to save our clients additional monies!!!!!!
just some food for thought from a shop that used to book groups,,

Pretty broad brush you are painting with, there, Chaz. I never treated you that way...

I never charged you for a spot you didn't fill, nor did I ever cut your throat by discounting under your price.

Sorry frank, your are absolutely correct you have treated my shop with some great trip and have never requested or charged us for any late fees or cancellation
I apologize for the fact that I must be generic in my comments for a few reason however in writing my comments I forgot about the live a board dive boats that are not affiliated with any mega coperations!

Sorry too, Chaz. When someone looks on your website, there is only me and another dive boat company. I just wanted anyone looking to know it wasn't me you are cheesed off at.

Taking a trip on a live-aboard is a risk;

Correct, running groups on live-aboards is high risk.

Running a live-aboard is the highest risk!

Frank I highly recommend you charter company to anyone and I appreciate you working with my dive shop giving us great charters and pricing our customers can afford!
I also appreciate you not direct marketing our clientele, as it seems some other companies cannot even wait a week to start bombarding them with emails!
Good diving!! The other will be gone by morning as I forgot they were still on there!

Suppose you waited until 90 days out and the boat you wanted didn't have enough spots for your group? Suppose you waited that long and DID find spots on the boat but couldn't get a flight?

LOB pricing is like airline and hotel pricing --- it's all about yield management. You want a specific week with certainty a year out? You'll pay more. You willing to take a chance that there's enough space available for your group closer to departure date? You might get a deal... or you might find the boat/plane/hotel is full.

I think I used the word flexible!!!!!! So all you said is possible!!!!!
