I know this is the Coz forum, but I am especially interested in Coz experience. I am looking at the Liquid Image mask camera model 324. It is 1080 p and wide angle. But it seems to have been discontinued. There is also a model 305 that is 720 p and a narrower focus lens. Does anyone have any experience with either? Any comments, suggestions, or reviews?

thanks

That's wild. That and the integrated with the gauges on a HUD. However for my pic taking there are LOTS of times I could not get my face where I can get my camera. Like say a Splendid Toadfish in a hole, I might want to ground the camera in the sand in front. Or something under a ledge where my head will not fit. Plus I find I can scare stuff less if I slowly extend the camera towards them and shoot vs. moving close to them.

I haven't gone stickman, but I completely understand why they like that camera on a stick. They can shove it in holes and under ledges and it scares the wildlife less. Heck I dove with a guy who had a turtle nose to nose with his go pro eyeballing it. I don't think you could do that with your face. (But who isn't annoyed with the stick people and the selfies? I mean do it like other people: bathroom mirror!)

I agree, the "mask camera" sounds good in theory, but isn't very practical for real underwater photography. along with all the concerns Chief has, what about light? below 30' you start to loose color and really need a strobe.
it may have a 1080dpi video, but looking at the examples on YouTube, it doesn't have a very good sensor, everything looks a little "grainy" or noisy.

how do you know you are in focus or even if you have your subject in frame with the lens above your eyes? ... dunno, think I would AT LEAST think GoPro.

Now where was your question about or what does this have to do with the Cozumel experience?

Not a blessed thing. I have been following the Coz sub-board for a few years and have developed a degree of familiarity and trust in some of the participants. I am coming back to Coz in January and I may buy a maskcam or GoPro. Putting the two thoughts together, comments from people with whom I have some familiarity about their experiences at a locale that I have been to amd am returning to, made sense to me to post the question here.

fred would you please stop upsetting the self-appointed moderators. Jeez man.

He wants to get the best camera for taking photos around Cozumel. I'll allow it.

:D, of course.

Just had a chance to use the new Sealife Micro HD. It's a Go Pro killer for underwater (and topside) use. Excellent video and stills, can't flood, integrated red filter, VERY simple operation, more affordable than a "comparably equipped" GP. I'd recommend taking a look at it. In Coz, of course.;)
