As an informal survey, how many of you have seen LIONFISH in the Atlantic ocean?Released aquaria stock I persume. One of our dive group reported a good I.D. off Palm Beach, FL.

A buddy of mine dived off of NC, recently, and videotaped numerous lionfish.

I've seen them on a couple of wrecks when diving out of Beaufort/Morehead City, North Carolina. I don't know the source, but I too would presume there was a release from an aquarium, perhaps during flooding from a hurricane. The number of sightings would suggest they are reproducing.

i've only read about sightings, never seen one myself

We have a group that just returned from Nassau. Almost every photo had a lionfish or two. I was told they were on several divesites.

I seen one in Nassau back in October.

I saw lionfish on the wreck of the Caribsea off of Cape Lookout NC last summer. I found a juvenile hanging on a particular steel or iron beam laying down on the bottom, went back three days later with a camera and it was there in the same place, got a photo.

there are trillions in nc. definitely making themselves at home here!
