which regulator is better quality and better suited to cold canadian waters:
mares abyss 22t or mares prestige ntt?

They are both ok regs with the nod going towards the Abyss, If you plan on diving in temps below 40 degrees F and must have a Mares go for a Mares Abyss Ice Extreme as its envoirmently sealed.
Or go with Apeks, its what most canadian cold water divers use.
This guy is selling an Apeks ATX200 setup if you want to consider a used setup..http://thedecostop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37709

I would lean to the Abyss out of those 2 as well. Other options would also include Scubapro MK17/G250V. As simcoediver said, if you are going to be in water sub 40F, spend the extra few dollars on the enviro kit on whatever you get. A little extra protection never hurts.
