Has anyone ever gotten light headed while diving?

The first time it happened to me was about a year ago, just diving along about 60' and all of a sudden I felt light headed, the way you feel when you are sick and and stand up quickly.

The next time was about 8 months later, same thing. I really did not think much about it untill last week in Roatan it happened on about 4 or 5 dives, one time I thought "if this gets any worse, I'm going to pass out". It can happen pretty much at any time, accent, decent or level diving.

Any ideas before I call my doctor?

Only one, do you think you may be hyperventilating?

No fun.

A few questions:

1. Does this ever happen topside?
2. Did you have any other symptoms besides lightheadedness, such as headache or vertigo?
3. Are you taking any medications, either chronically or for diving purposes?
4. When was your last physical examination?
5. Do you have your regulator serviced on a routine basis?
6. Did you practice skip-breathing or were you using a snorkel on these dives?

Best regards.

1. No
2. No
3. No
4. About a month ago
5. Not serviced for about 15 years (ouch!)
6. Neither

Not much to go on, I know...

In response to Kracken, I don't think I'm Hyperventilating, I've been diving quite a long time and my air consumption is good.

It's very strange, I tried to equate it to something that was common in every dive but I really can't. Maybe it is the regulator, it breathes kind of hard sometimes and the lightheadedness did not occur a couple of weeks ago when using my buddy's equipment.

That would be a good place to start.

Best of luck.

Just another thought, but is your neck seal on ur wet suit too tight?

If so this can cause Carotid Sinus Reflex, can cause dizziness, light headedness, and cause black outs.
