Hello,
Did a few searches on the subject but nothing turned up. I recall a thread from last year with a member who made his light into a can style / goodman light by adding a new head to the unit. He really was only going to use it for open water training. I would like to do the same till I give enough blood to get a real light.

Also can a UK style handle light be changed over to a goodman handle. Again this will just be used in open water training.

Thanks in advance for any help. :D

not that this will help, but i would just keep an eye open in the want to sell forums for a good deal on a can light if thats what your needing.

for me it goes back to having the right tool for the job making everything easier

you wont necessarily be required to have a canister light for training but you will need a primary and a backup (or probably 2). I know some divers that did much of their cave training with hand held UK8 type primaries and some who borrowed/rented canister primary lights for training. I borrowed my canister light for cave class...

it makes things easier to have a goodman mounted light but you can work around it if you have to.

you can buy the dive rite 500 lumen LED lights with cord and goodman for less than $400 right now. thats cheap for a canister light so that may be a better option, thats what I have right now and it works well.

otherwise compared to the cost of training and gas fills and a drysuit a light isn't that much of your total expense, plus dive right in scuba has a deal for 15% off salvo lights right now which could save you $200+ on a light and cave adventurers has a deal where you get free backup lights with the purchase of a primary.

I looked at that light on line a few times and even know a few people who have them. It looks to be a good value. Just picked up one Halcyon Scout for my 1st back up. In a few weeks I will pick up another one for the 2nd back up. Just starting to think about a main light. :D
