i am using a pair of blades which have us divers instead of aqualung on them. guess their age at about 14 years. i updated everything else when i was enjoying working for a dive operator in the town i retired to. never thought about how long fins ought to last.
your thoughts?

I have a ten year old pair of Dacor Turbo Flex fins, kind of a knock off of the old US Divers Rocket fins, or what is now Jet fins. They still work great, I don't plan on changing them anytime soon

As long as they don't rot you should be fine.

I 'retired' in about '06 2 pair of Dacor Turbo's--one a II & the other a III.......They finally just gave out on me after leaving them in a closet @ the house on Roatan from '95 on...Each were purchased used in '85 from my LDS(probably new in the early 80's).....So I would guess you have another 10 years or so left in them.....

Good endorsements here for Dacor Turbo Flex. I have a pair I have used well more than 15 years and have no plans to replace them. No need to.

I replaced my US Diver rocket fins from the 70's three years ago.. was nothing really wrong with them, just thought it was time to try something new...

But new fins are another story. I don't know how long any of the modern split fins will last, but as they depend on high levels of flex...but would not expect them to last anywhere near as long...although after 3 years and a couple hundred dives.. my Apollo fins seem fine.

Ditto. I replaced my 1976 USD Rocket Fins with Scubapro Jet Fins about a year and a half ago... so I should be good until about 2040 at least.... :D

I know polyurethane in work boot soles if affected by hydrolysis, I wonder if fins made of that material could last more than 10 years?

I have one pair of perfectly useable and I still use them and have owned them since about 1968, Voit Skin Divers. One pair of 1973 USD Rockets, still just fine, one pair of Jets that go back to 76, showing a bit of wear but no worries, I got a spare set that is brand new. My wife has a pair of Mini Rockets since 79 and it just goes on. I figure with a new set of XL Jets in the bag, I am good for at least another fifty years. N
