My new son-in-law got me into diving last fall. I got my open water certification at age 50 up in Hood Canal in October and now have 30 logged dives. I'm looking forward to my first warmer water dive in CA's Channel Islands this August.

you have six years to catch up with me. Catalina Island is a great place for shore and boat diving.
been there, done that.

Welcome to diving and to :sblogo:!

I got certified at 51, and diving has more or less taken over my life . . . You will love the Channel Islands. Diving in the kelp, with the fat, glowing Garibaldis and the occasional sea lion fly-by, is fabulous! (Headed there myself in a week and a half.) But don't forget the San Juans and British Columbia. The water may be a bit colder (not a whole lot) but the seascapes are just as amazing.

hey welcome to fellow PNW'r, I did my cert up there at the yellow house last year, and have gone bananas myself, I am diving the Channel Islands on Truth Aquatics in September, looking forward to it! Also gonna be in maui next month, and Coz in November, maybe I will catch up to you there. Taking my daughter to Hood Canal on the 24,25th to finish her AOW, and for me to learn how to use a new camera!
