JIMMY BUFFETT "CHILLS" AT TOP OF BILLBOARD CHART
DEBUTS AT #1

First-week Sales Highest in Career History

Nashville, TN - Margaritaville's own Jimmy Buffett enjoys the biggest chart week and first #1 record of his 25+ year career with the release of his latest album, the Country/Caribbean License To Chill. The collection, which features duets with some of country's biggest stars including Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Toby Keith, Martina McBride and Clint Black among others, has struck an obvious chord with listeners, with sales of 238,597 in its first week of release. License to Chill sits atop the Billboard Internet Album Sales chart as well.

The album's debut single, "Hey Good Lookin'," the old Hank Williams chestnut, features Buffett with Jackson, Chesney, Strait, Keith, and Black, and is currently moving toward the top of the charts (#7 R&R, #8 Billboard). It helped propel first-week sales, along with the song's colorful video, which recently world-premiered on CMT and is in Hot Shot (super heavy) rotation.

Critics are hailing the album as one of Buffett's best. From the Boston Globe: "The many duets on License to Chill represent some of the best music of Buffett's career. The CD also features some exquisite ballads that he sings by himself. It's a true Buffett record." From the Miami Herald, after quoting some lyrics from the song, "Simply Complicated": "Nothing complicated about enjoying this disc. How about Volume II?"

Fans can catch Buffett and his “License To Chill” on the road this summer when he hits Chicago August 26th and 28, Cincinnati August 31, Pittsburgh September 2, Jones Beach, NY September 4, Fenway Park in Boston September 10 and 12, Las Vegas October 16 and 23 and San Diego October 20.

Isn't this GREAT! About time people find out what us parrottheads have known forever! But it also means getting tickets will be harder than ever!

Yeah, but we gotta spread the word, bro...

Its a good concert too.. my wife and I (and our 18mo old boy) caught the show in Ft Lauderdale :D

Sorry if I am hijacking the post, but I was wondering if you could tell me about the concert. 6 of us are going to Jones Beach on Sept 4th, and I am looking for all the info I can get.

Thanks,

Pam

Well, its not like concerts I used to work (.38 Special, etc..) its was actually a pretty fun experience.. probably because I could relax and watch the show and not toss out drunk rowdies. Think of Mardigras at a concert and you have a Buffett show but with a tropical theme - Hawiian shirts, beach balls, straw hats, leighs, friendly people, and a remote controlled shark blimp during Fins :)

Get there early, tail gate with people, relax and have fun :D

Thanks for your replies. I have been to one Jimmy Buffett concert about 12 years ago, and we had a great time. I can't wait. We definitely plan on tailgating, and I am already stocking up on the margarita mix.

Can anyone advise on the actual License to Chill tour. Such as, there are so many contributory singers on the CD, I was wondering how that works with Jimmy solo.

Please tell me he will play some of my old favorites!!
Pam

Oh, he definitely plays oldies to the new songs. Only the few that have always sort of made noise with him contribute. Yes... 5 O'clock somewhere is played. License to chill is played... and the staples :D

Anyone know where I can get a copy of his rendition of "Purple Rain" from the wisconsin concert a few weeks ago? I know for a fact that'll never be available in stores.

For thos of you wondering, "Jimmy Buffett, Purple Rain????" You had to be there.
