I'm getting ready to redo do our utility/laundry room and would like to devote a substantial portion to dive gear. So, if anyone has any pics of how you've organized your stuff, or any tips on what you like or don't, I'd love to see/hear about it.

Thank you ScubaBoard!

We don't have great amounts of space and can't dovote any one area exclusively to diving. Everything is kept in the basement, where it stays fairly cool year round.

Wetsuits are hung from a cold water pipe in a hanging garment bag, BCs are hung separately, tanks stored horizontal in a homemade tank cradle under a shelving unit. Fins flat on a shelf along with masks each in their own box with our computers tucked inside. Regs, boots & gloves, and assorted small stuff are kept in 3 plastic tubs on shelves by category. Dive logs are with passports and other papers.

Overall it's kind of spread out, but everything has a place, is well protected, and pretty easy to gather when needed.

I live in a condo and I don't have a lot of space. After each dive I rinse my gear in the shower/tub and then I put the stuff in the bucket. I then put my inside out drysuit on my living room floor to dry out. (Yes, I am single.) After the gear mostly dries, I hang it on the hangers to full dry. Then I turn my drysuit right side in and let it finish drying.

When the drysuit is fully dry, I wax the zipper, fold it, and place it in the bag. By then the gear is fully dry and I put the drysuit and undergarments into the bucket.

Once this is complete, it should be time for another dive.

Wash, Rince, Repeat.

Excuse the poor photo quality. The flash really washed out the pic, so I shot it w/o flash at 1600 ASA and 1/4 sec exposure time. There isn't a lot of light where I store my gear.

I eventually gave up on the scuba closet and bought the scuba van, this is where my gear lives now. No more hauling back and forth through the house!

I go for the piles on the floor technique...I am always ready to go! A BC pile, A BP/W pile, drysuit pile, ect.... An a closet full of wet suits and assorted other gear. Tanks in garage during dive season

I whitewater kayak, so I have two places I store gear.

#1 Very nice elevated wood shed in the back yard. Kayak, paddles, all kayak gear, bicycle, 18 tanks, gear bags, any dive gear I don't use anymore. It's a large shed with excellent shelves and a loft. Shelves on one side hold Rubbermaid bins of misc household stuff and drawer bins hold misc gear for kayaking or diving. The loft has home stuff....Christmas tree, fans, etc.

#2 Scuba closet under the stairs, entry off garage. This area is part of the house and has very little temperature change. In this area, very narrow, but long, I hung 3 rods going across the narrow area, from front to back (like rungs of a ladder). In the back I have 3 of those square garment canvas bag/storage hanging wardrobes from Bed, Bath and Beyond hanging abreast of each other....fit perfectly side by side. In those are skins, wetsuits, rash guards, etc. On the next two rods I have 1 hanging garment/wardrobe each. In one is all my long underwear for my drysuit, in the second is my drysuit. These are on the rods by themselves so I can slide them from side to side to access the furthest rod back, etc. On the spare space on the rods that only have one wardrobe are my kayaking PFD, backplates, Transpac, and several wings. These are all hanging on hefty hangers and can me moved from side to side as needed. I also put heavy duty coat hooks on to the horizontal boards screwed to the walls that hold the rods. On these hooks I hang drysuit boots and regulator bags, etc. Under the wardrobes are a few more Rubbermaid bins to catch miscellaneous stuff that is seldom used, on top of these lay flat my fins. On top of the boards that hold the rods are flat sections of pressed board to make a shelf going back about half the length of the room. Up top is a bin with all my PADI teaching materials, and in front of that are several zippered canvas garment "boxes" that match the hanging wardrobes. In these are hoods, wet suits gloves, dry gloves, insert gloves, all the little stuff. Lastly, on the floor is a separated open heavy duty handled tool box with lead.

I use my spare bathroom in the basement (unless we have company). I hang my wet gear in the stand-up shower for rinsing/drying, and it stays there until I go out again.

Tanks and lead stay up against the wall in my garage so I don't have to haul them in/out all of the time.

i dont have a pic but hubby took over my laundry for his rebreather

i put shelves on the walls with hooks, a extra high work table (takes some of the stress off the back when standing) plus under table draws for tools ect and over the laundry tub i put up hooks/rail to hang his stuff up when drying

we have learnt to co-exist with my washing machine/dryer and his unit

if i can i will take pics tonight
