Hello! I am the mom of a 13yr old boy who would like to take scuba diving lessons and become certified before we head to Key West on vacation later this summer. Does anyone have a recommendation of a dive shop that would be good to use for the lessons that caters to kids? My was certified back in college and he would just like to take a quick refresher class to sharpen his knowledge. The thought is they can be "buddies" and mom will be less nervous.:) Thanks for your help!

Sorry, I neglected to tell you we live in Weston, FL - which is about 20 miles west of Fort Lauderdale. Thanks!

I WOULD RECOMMEND OCEAN QUEST SCUBA. SANDY IS THE INSTRUCTOR AND IS THE BEST!!!! SHE IS CERTIFYING MY 11 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. SANDY IS SO GREAT WITH THE KIDS, THEY ALL LOVE HER. THEY ARE OUT OF WEST PALM BEACH. CHECK OUT THE WEB SITE AT WWW.OCEANQUESTSCUBA.COM.

GOOD LUCK!

Not sure about Weston but if you can't get your son certified before your Key West trip check out Captain's Corner in Key West.

I just got certified through them this week and they are a great group of professionals as a matter of fact I am comming back in the second or third week of Augast to get my son (16 year old) certified with them.

Good luck and enjoy:jump3:

Good luck with your kid--make sure you think he's mature enough to do this. This IS a sport than can be dangerous if something goes wrong.

To Mollie--the "caps lock" key is on the left hand side of your keyboard, vertically in the middle, between the tab and the shift keys...

Not even going to go there.
I think it's a great idea. I only wish I'd gotten certed sooner so I could have got my son into it sooner. As it is we barely got it in before he went off to basic. And as far as the danger factor I'd rather have him scuba diving than doing something really dangerous like drinking or using drugs. You should get certed also, Mom.

Oh what the hey, JUST THINK OF THE FUN YOU ALL COULD HAVE! IT WOULD ALSO GO ALONG WAY TOWARDS OPENING THE LINES OF COMMUNICATION WITH THE WHOLE FAMILY.

AND I LIKE YOUR STYLE, MOLLIE!!!
