I am gearing up for my Bonaire /Curacao trip in July. Have a new FIX housing and Canon S100 camera I have been playing with but want to get some lenses soon to practice with before going.

1. Game plan is to get the UWL-28 wide angle. That seems to get decent reviews with this combo. Anything else that might be better? Or problems to be aware of with it?

2. Now for macro I have narrowed it down to a choice of 2. The Inon stackable or the fisheye closeup. What are the pros and cons between these two for this setup? I will be using external strobe(s).

3. Strobe.....For this camera setup, I doubt highly that I will get any fancier at this stage of life. :) If my time is about equally split between wide angle and macro with both fresh and saltwater diving.....Do you think I would be better served with a pair of YS-01 or a single YS-D1?
Thanks for any advice

Hi kfin,

I also have a s100 and FIX housing. It's a sweet combo!!

For wide angle I chose the UWL-28. There is some vignetting so have to zoom in a bit, or I crop using iPhoto or iMovie on my Mac.

For the strobes, I have two YS-01's which is nice. I also swap one of the strobes for a SOLA 1200 video light. I really like and prefer this combo for taking both stills and videos. Btw, the HD video with the s100 is fantastic!!

Enjoy and safe diving.

1. Good lens but I hate M67 mounts. You have to leave the lens on for the dive or trying to get it on and off is a nightmare
2. You need to compare two images of the same subject with the two lenses to have a precise idea. I have Inon for the S95 and work well
3. A single strobe and a focus light is a good starting point. With the aperture values of the S100 the extra power of the YS-D1 is not really needed

I find this interesting and it is the first I have heard of this. One of the main advantages of wet lenses is being able to put on and off underwater. This could be a deal breaker for me on this lense. What other one would be a nice option?

You can put it on and off underwater it is just more of a pain with the threads as opposed to the AD type mounts that are just a quick twist.
