A question for all you Oly users out there.... not that this is necessarily specific to Oly, but since that is what my rig is, I'll ask here.

What do you do for a lens leash? I have a couple of lenses, an INON UWL 100 and an INON 165 Macro. For the UWL 100, it's no problem to attach a zip tie to the middle of the lens (as it is narrower in the middle than at the ends) and then a wire that attaches to the tray handle. For the wire I use a fishing leader which has a swivel and allows easy attachment of the lens while underwater. I use this setup with my fisheye tray, top tray and lens caddy.

For the macro lens, it is a bit more difficult as it less than an inch in thickness and uniform in diameter. What I did was use a ziptie that has an eyelet on it, zip it up tight, and wrap waterproof bright yellow duct tape around it, then attached the wire fishing leader to the eyelet. Seems to have worked quite nicely when I had it in Coz last month. If for some reason I drop the lens and it comes off the wire, the bright yellow would give me at least a fighting chance of finding it.

Just wondering what others have done/used.

I used to use a ziptie and high test fishing line to leash my WAL. Next I traded out the fishing line and ziptied a clip that attached to my BC or strobe arms. Finally I just purchased a holder that attaches to my strobe arm, and allows me to screw the WAL into holder. The WAL is now better protected than it has been in the past. I am still considering putting a lens cover on it when not in use.

My macro I used to carry in a nice nylon bag that I put into a BC pocket. After a few hundred shots, and learning how to use the camera correctly, I found that the macro setting and manual focus on my 5050 (buddy found same on his nikon 5000) was just as good as using the macro lens. So I only bring the WAL with me in the water now.

my $0.02.

I've been using a Digital Lens Dock for several years. I like the fact that I can mount it anywhere it's convenient and the dock gently grips the WA lens so I don't worry about damaging the fine threads on it. It's sometimes hard enough to get the threads on the lens started properly on the housing and I don't have that hassle while putting the lens in the dock.

I haven't worked out how to mount the macro lens, as Warren mentioned it's not very thick and the DLD only holds one lens at this time. Since I doubt I'll need the macro lens on the fly as I sometimes do my WA, I think keeping it in a pocket will work fine.

I also use the Digital Lens Dock. It comes wioth a leash. I have two docks mounted on my tray, one for the WAL and one for the Close-up lens. The Inon Close-up lens does not have a ridge or groove in it for a leash. I have had no issues using that lens w/o a leash. The WAL is much heavier and the leash is a must.
