Legal Tautog

Hi I am going out of Delaware to spear over 3 miles offshore. Is it legal to take tautog and return to Delaware where they are closed in Delaware ? I am pretty sure they are. Thanks Stoggie

stoggie I am not in Deleware I am in NY and fish actively offshore .It is where you LAND the fish that matters,meaning that if you caught it in lets say Maryland where it might be legal if you land the fish in Deleware where it is not legal you are in for trouble.This also applies to size limitations if you catch a fish in a bordering states waters that is legally smaller than your state allows you can not land the fish in your state without trouble if you get caught.I have had many dealings with the DEC and they do not give you the benefit of doubt.Hope this helps.You also need to check if it is legal to catch Tautog past the EEZ .

Thanks I checked with the fish police and you can not take tog in Sept in Delaware .
