Can anyone please tell me where the two new dive sites Ron's Rock's and Dot's Spot are located on Little Cayman?

Did the DOE take out any mooring balls?

Thanks.

JD - I thought I read a news article on the new dive sites, but I can't find it. Guess we will have to check it out in person.

Dot's Hot Spot is just west of Joy's Joy and the mooring is just inside the park boundry. We have been going from Joy's to that area for years, particularly when a large group is heading east to rototill the Joy's swimthroughs. Ron's Rocks is near the western tip of the island, and is not in the park.

Very interesting. That has always been one of my favorite places on LC to dive, and it's in my log book as "Ken Wagnon's Beach". I always go out from shore at the driveway which is on the north side of Ken Wagnon's house, then cruise from there up to Joy's Joy. Chris McCoy told me several years ago that DOE was saving that area for a new dive site some day, and I guess that day has now arrived. I haven't seen where they put the mooring ball yet, but would guess it's on the inner wall. The reef tops on the outside are fairly deep. But come to think of it, that driveway is right on the marine park boundary. From the description above, I guess the mooring ball must be straight out that driveway in about 40' of water.

Bruce,
The mooring is just south of the mini-wall near the small arch, and just east of the "lollypop line". Since it is so close to the resorts, it will probably be "hammered' like the rest of the BB sites. The saving grace is that the main wall is fairly deep.
