My wife and I are making last minute plans for a Cozumel trip for reasons not important in this discussion. We are booked at Sunscapes arriving May 12 and departing May 22. I am looking for recommendations for dive operators. I know they have a house operator but also know there are sometimes better choices available. So understanding this is late notice but I am looking for recommendations with a few items in mind. My wife has some physical issues and needs help getting gear on at the dive platform area and needs to pass up her BCD to the boat before climbing up without gear. I am also hoping to find an operator who can store our gear after each dive day so I don't have to haul it back to our room each day. Other than that I am not hard to please and am looking forward to as much diving as I can arrange on such short notice. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help in advance.

Check out:
1. Aldora
2. Blue XTSea
3. Blue Magic
4. Dive Ith Martin
5. Tres Pelicanos

We dive with Aldora and always pass our gear up after the dive. They take care of everything but wetsuits, and even their smaller boats have a cut out for a giant stride entry if necessary. Their larger boat, the Felicity, has a dive platform. I believe they have 6 boats so you are normally grouped with like skilled divers for everything but the check out dive.

You might consider hiring a private divemaster depending on your wife's needs and diving skills. The Capitan and the DM always help us don our gear and assist divers however necessary.

Shoot several operators an email and discuss your needs with them. I have either dove with the ops I listed or trust the reviews on this site. Aldora uses steel 120 tanks for those that need them, females usually get steel hp 100's, and we regularly get 90 minute dives.

Dave with Aldora and Christi with Blue XTSea are huge supporters of this site and deserve a shot at your business....they also run excellent operations with loyal customers for a reason.

Aldora's surface interval and departure point works for us as well.

Safe travels,
Jay

He nailed it with those 5.

I use Blue XT Sea. 1, 2, 5 are probably the most popular here by far.

Can't go wrong with any of them.

There are numerous threads like this within a couple pages of front of this forum. You should read them! The 5 mentioned do come up often as favorites.

Thank you Brules and amoses for your input.

Well, I don't know if your wife needs a platform, but if she's OK with a backroll, I have a recommendation. Two years ago I dove with Dive With Martin (have used them several times). On that trip, there was an 84 year old man named Bob. They wheeled him up (he was in a wheelchair) to the boat. Picked him him up out of the wheelchair, carried him to a bench and of course like every diver hooked him up. When we got to the dive site, two crew members picked him up and lowered him into the water where his divemaster was waiting (as another poster mentioned getting her a personal divemaster is worth the cost). That 84 year old man went from a wheelchair to diving! His divemaster stayed with him the entire dive. 84 year old Bob reminded me why I dive. I sat next to him on the boat and he was copying stuff from a slate into a dive book, referring to a fish chart. I couldn't resist. I asked him "Bob, are you are new diver because I notice you making very specific entries into a log book?" He told me he had been diving since 1965. And his wife had always dove with him but she just couldn't do it at 80 years old anymore. He referred to the fish chart because his memory was going so not only could he remember the fish but he wan't to remember his most recent dive. My point is, talk to several dive ops. Explain the situation, if you don't feel comfortable with their response, move on to another. There are many good dive ops in Coz. I've been diving there for 17 years. Talking to them, even on the phone, no, especially on the phone will give you a good idea if they are sensitive to your needs. I don't mean some agent in the US. They are selling the dives not doing them. Call Coz and talk to the owner.

Thanks all for the input. We arrive Friday and I can't wait. We chose Blue XT Sea and will provide feedback when our trip is completed. Christi has been very helpful.

Excellent choice as after re-reading your post she checks all your boxes.

I too pass my BC/Tank in before I get on boat every dive, and the 2 boats she has are short sided, so the ladder is no very long to get in boat.

All on the list are excellent (+ Living Underwater) and you couldn't go wrong with nay of them.

Since Christi has WiFi on he boats - you better post from the water lol!!!!!!!!!! We will be expecting pics! :)
