Wife and I are looking to go to Coz for the first time to get in some last minute diving before new school year starts. Has anyone stayed at Sunscape recently? A quick search turned up “run down and food is meh”. Website shows nice looking rooms but I’m not sure how far I should trust those.

Much appreciated!

Dreamscape is new, Sunscape is old, Secrets is in between. Food is school cafeteria grade. Rooms are hit and miss, check in room, check AC toilet (flush) and bed. Cheap is cheap. Smell outside like sewer sometimes (maybe they water with reclaimed water?)

My last stay at Sunscape was in May of this year. I usually make 2-3 trips a year there. I find it a pretty good value for AI resort. Food is pretty meh but it works well for me. I go for the diving not the food. There are 2 restaurants at Sunscape & adults can also eat at the Market Cafe buffet at Secrets (they don’t always tell you this at check in). They recently started having burgers, hot dogs, nachos, etc. available poolside. There is also a coffee bar & they have a few carry out food items there (pastries, small sandwiches). Rooms were upgraded a few years ago (2020 I think) but are showing some wear - some are no doubt worse than others. I find the rooms & beds to be quite comfortable but I do prefer a room in a quiet area away from the pool & bar area. The sewer smell mentioned above always seemed to be in only one small area IMO (near bldg 20) but it seemed to be gone last time I was there - hoping they finally fixed that. There is only 1 pool. There are usually lots of kids at Sunscape if that matters to you. I think they have one of the nicest beaches but water shoes are definitely recommended. Quite a few beach chairs, palapa, & plenty of beach towels. Staff is awesome!

Last time we stopped to pick up guests at any of the properties there off the wood pier, they paid quite a bit per day per diver and were not happy about it.
