My question is does anyone know of any places that will have last minute deals on places to stay. I am looking at stay for 2 weeks in June and want to make this as lowest cost as possible.

I have been planning for a long time and but with the economy the way it is. I just don't want to pull the trigger with the chance of my wife or me loosing our jobs.

Also is anyone else waiting to pull the trigger because of the economy?

Hello,
I'm in curacao right now. I had my plane tickets way back but did not book a place to stay until 2 weeks before hand. I ended up going supper budget. The hotels I finally decided on only had expensive suites left by the time I tried to book. Use triple W IHA dot com. I got a studio apartment for 25 euros a day. As far as food goes cooking for yourself is by far the cheapest and taking sack lunches with you. For dinners you can eat the daily special at places like the Plein Cafe downtown for $5.50. You can also get your frequent eater card punched so every 5th meal is free. These are filling meals but unfortunately the Curacao diet is not very healthy. The caviot is that you will need to rent a car. Expect $50 per day with 1 day free per week instead of the advertised $28 per day. Beverages are very expensive everywhere. Expect $4.50 and up per beer. Alcohol with the exception of beer is much cheaper at the grocery store. (read: buy wine) I suggest taking a water bottle with you everywhere and drinking from that during your meal. The local water is safe as you probably know, but I feel uncomfortable ordering a glass of tap water without purchasing a beverage to go along with it. I don't feel uncomfortable drinking from my water bottle, somehow I feel that the tip makes this ok. (don't ask me why?) You can easily get around the island using the local bus system instead of taxis or rental cars but not if you are going diving. You can rent tanks and weights for 10-14 dollars just about anywhere and some places will do unlimited tanks and weights for 20-26 dollars per day. This works well if you are doing more than two tanks in the same area. If you do a rental car make sure that you do the pick up and drop off at the airport at the start and end of your stay. This might seem like a duh move but you will pay through the nose for taxis to and from the airport. So the only reason to get the rental car in town is if you are only going to use it for one or two days.
As a last point since you have two people you can get a good deal at an all inclusive super resort for a 5/7 days of your trip depending on the specials they are running. Just don't do the dive packages. That way you eliminate all food and beverage costs all together and can get that booze and excess out of your system before you start the dive portion of the trip.
