I have seen the old (10+ year) posts about Lake Thurmond and have decided to hit it up next week. I have the map (thanks guys!) of the dam area. How has the plane held up? Any thing new to add to the map? how is the visibility been in the winter?

Thanks!

The last visibility reports that I've seen from this past weekend end have been very low. Here's the report from last Sunday from the local expert on the lake:

Sunday Dive Report: ... dove East Dam this afternoon. Vis remains 2' and water temp 52F. We had a 55 minute dive to max depth of 109'. Nice dive, relaxing. At 96' (in 2' vis ) I had a large catfish slam into my face from 2' away

:) ). He was excited too. We made the ski boat and part of the 80' wall. What was this 1" long mellipede thing that look like a larval state of something at the base of the 80' wall? Anyway, the bluegills decided they wanted some (not a lot) of food today, so they bumped my mask or tugged on my glove. Nice dive even in low vis.

There's a group scheduled to dive Friday and Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon.
