Does anyone have info on the diver that died last week in lake Spalding, located in Northern CA? All the paper said was he and his buddy were at 90' when the diver told his buddy he was going up and began his accent. He was found dead on the surface. I dove Spalding today and some people were talking about it, but nobody had any details on his profile, mix, health etc...

??? don't know why the link will not work.

because when you try and get your facts from c.d.n.n. you're wasting your time, to the point that even SB gets it and I guess blocks it.

This was discussed somewhat in the following thread:

I have been speaking with friends of the family of the deceased, there is nothing new yet other than the family was not thrilled by the comments made int eh newspaper by one of the responders who was also a diver. They felt his comments and opinions were taken as fact by the reporter.

Sac11550, I have thought of heading up to Spalding for a dive, is it a halfway decent site?

I will dive there again. It is a lot beter then Folsom or lake Natoma and only 40 minutes from Rocklin. The water level is real low so it is a bit of walk down the ramp from the parking lot with a set of doubles and sling bottle. We stagged our gear on the ramp when the dive was over and went and got the car. The vis around the shore in 20' was 25 +. We followed the boat ramp out to the middle of the cove and got into 90' of water. Vis was about 10'-15' at depth. Water temp at bottom was 61 and 67 at 20'. Lots of old stumps and trees in the middle. My favorite part of the dive was closer to shore in 15'-30' of water.Lots of large granite rocks. If the lake level were higher there is a sheer granite wall on the east side of the cove that would be a great dive.
