Hi All:
Here's a 3 min video of Lake Rawlings, a little quarry off the I-85 just south of Richmond, Virginia in March, 2010. Underwater features include 40 FT vertical walls, sunken boats, cars, buses and aircraft. Two of the most popular features - an aircraft and bus - are in the video.
I was challenged shooting this video. The depths kept changing for the different clips, and clouds kept obstructing total light. I constantly had to shift white balance, F stop and shutter settings. My aperture settings were as wide as 4.8 @ 60 and as small as 11 @ 180, if you can believe that. I shifted to more blues using FCP in post, tweaked the gamma, and dropped a medium flicker reduction filter in. The codec is Apple H-264, trimmed by 10 all around and the resulting file is 78 MB for faster streaming on Vimeo. I'm using a Sony PD-170 SD video camera in a Gates Housing with a Fathom SWP. I like to use two 15W HID lights for what I call "approach" highlighting, check out the statute in the middle of the video for the effect. I'm trying to work this in with sharks off NC this season, if they would just cooperate, lol. We'll see how it goes.
Please tell me what you think:
