I've never done Lake Lanier and would like to try it since it's local. Any one going that I could tag along with? I'm going to Boca Raton later this month and would like to get wet at least once before then. Thanks!

ekewaka:I can do a couple of dives tomorrow. How does 10am at West Bank Park sound?
ekewaka:3 hours!? That is a long way to drive for Lake Lanier. Where are you coming from?
JKSteger:Hey Stephi,
Today (Sunday) is a no-go for me. I will be out fishing with friends. However, if you would like to meet up NEXT Sat. (May 12th) we could do that. I sent my drysuit in for alterations so I will be diving in my wetsuit (haven't dove in a wetsuit in over a year!).
The place to dive at Lake Juliette is at Dames Ferry Park. The pavilion area is usually "reserved" and they don't let anyone in so we have to go over to the boat ramp area. Two or four dollars to park, I can't remember. Then suit up and get in the water. The lake has a hydrilla problem so it is full of grass. I haven't found a bottom deeper than 35' yet at least while diving.
Viz has been hit and miss there. It has mostly been in the 10-15 feet range but after heavy rains I have seen it down to 2 or 3 feet viz.
Let me know if you want to meet up somewhere next Sat. and we will take a chance on Juliette.
Also to note is that if it takes you 2 - 2 and half hours to get to Lanier, it would be just as well to drive to the N. Florida Springs. I Google Earth'ed from Macon to Gennie Springs and it is 236 miles and drive time of 3 1/2 hours. Distance from Macon to Lake Lanier is 121 miles and 2 hours 10 min drive time.
Just something to think about.
