Hi....just got certified through SSI on July 12th (Blue Grotto & Devil's Den).

Already logged 12 dives since then at Alexander Springs, Ginnie Springs, Troy Springs, and back to Blue Grotto. A three decade dream finally realized!!!

Can't wait to get down to S. Florida and the keys to try some boat dives in warm water. :D

Looking forward to meeting some new dive buddies.

Anita

Welcome. I'm jealous, I got certified in the beginning of June and only have 9 dives (4 OW, 1 AOW and 4 other dives.) It's all good though. It's not a race, but I sure do like to get underwater. I'm So CAL and though it's warm outside, the last dive was 54F under the thermocline, so we're also in 7mm suits. Check out Garden Cove in Key Largo. A woman I work with told me her brother runs it! Have fun!

Wow! Very cool. I was certified on July 18 at the same same dive sights. Blue Grotto was so much better than Devils Den in my opinion. Are all of those springs in the same general vicinity? Do they rent gear? I left for vacation 2 days after I got certified and just recently returned so I haven't gotten to dive since I got certified. However, I do have Dive Quest @ Disney scheduled for next month. Really looking forward to getting more dives in though.

Welcome, Anita, and congrats! We're lucky to sit right here amongst some great dive sites! Beautiful springs to the north and gorgeous reefs/wrecks to the south. Enjoy and dive safe!

I have a sentimental fondness for those Florida Springs from memories of snorkeling them as a kid and later diving them as an adult. I have a brother in Williston so when I visit Devils Den and the Grotto always beckon. You'll find a lot of great advice on these boards and sometimes a dive buddy. Congratulations and enjoy the great experience that is scuba!

Didn't post where I thought it would....sorry for the inconvenience. This venue reacts differently than others I have used.

Cool to have certified at the same places! I like them both......Devil's Den is kind of like an underwater roller coaster ride. :)

I just got a year pass for Blue Grotto...so I intend to get a lot of diving done there.

I know they rent gear at the Grotto; they probably rent gear at Ginnie Springs too. Troy and Alexander are state parks and you have to bring gear, but there are dive shops in the area that rent gear.

North Central Florida has a lot of good spring dives -- lots of cave and cavern dives within a reasonable radius of the Ocala area.

Hope to see you at Blue Grotto!!! :)
