Looking for reviews about Konjo Exclusive Liveaboards - they pride themselves of working off the beaten path but wasn't able to find anything about them

@touny71

Konjo is the equivalent of a (very small) dive travel agent, specifically for liveaboards in Indonesia - they don't run their own boats... they have some level of experience in the region (after being cruise directors, I believe) and they do seem to lead a couple of trips during the year.

Their itineraries (and destinations) aren't any different than what you can book directly with any of the boats they represent.

Their website was built locally in Indonesia and is full of typos and mispellings. Without having any personal dealings with them, it comes across as a very small, no attention to detail kind of thing.

Where are you looking to go? Collectively there is more experience on this board (specifically traveling in Indo for diving) than all the agents representing boats in the region.

If you're looking for someone to arrange everything for you I would suggest looking at one of the larger dive travel operations. Blue Water Photo has a very good (and knowledgable) travel staff in the US, and Original Diving (in the UK) is very good as well.

The founder/owner of the travel op is French speaking so that may be why you see mispellings. It is a small op that started in 2020 and runs trips on a couple different boats. Their itineraries can be found on other boats as well so its not only them "off the beaten path". Many boats are starting to run trips to other destinations because RA and Komodo have gotten quite crowded. If you see a trip they are doing that interests you then look at what boat they are on and research reviews from that boat.

There are many small travel groups that charter boats in Indonesia that have years and years of experience. Some just charter trips and then advertise and some charter and do FIT (free independent traveler) trips for people who want to do something different. like: Liveaboard Adventures, SubCultureTravel(Got Muck), Dive Travel Service, Equator Diving etc. These groups have been booking travel in Indo for a very long time.

@touny71 I would figure out where you want to go and then see what boats go there. Just don't get roped into thinking if you go with them you will see huge schools of hammers in crystal blue water. People are very lucky to see them and it often requires diving in high current low viz situations. I am not sure if your dive count is right but high current in Indonesia is not always safe for beginners.
