Let me start with the fact that I am 6'-6'1", 260, 52-54 chest and a 38 waist. (Yes, I work out). I recently purchased a used, but in excellent condition, Knighthawk. The straps fit great over my chest and shoulders, but the cumberbund is WAY too large for me. When I attempted to secure it, even over a 7mm wetsuit, the Velcro sections were do far past each other that it could not be secured. Yes, the nylon strap can be shortened to fit, but it may not be enough. It did not feel comfortable so I didn't dive it.

Suggestions/recommendations?

John.

The best way to resolve this issue is to take the bc to a Scubapro dealer, have them mark the cummerbund to your sizing, and send it in for alteration. The cummerbund will be shortened to fit you and the Velcro relocated as needed.

i had the same problem with a different bcd brand.

i took the cummerbund to a local womens coat shop and explained my problem. the store owner said give their tailor $10 cash and they would fix me up.

the tailor pocketed my cash and took about 2 minutes to pin up a couple of foldovers (think of a z) in the middle of the belt to reduce its length and then neatly sowed them closed. problem solved. if ever required, the foldovers could be unstiched to restore length to the belt.

I normally like cummerbunds ok. But the velcro on my Ladyhawk was wearing, and the waist strap actually pulled out on me once when I tightened it (don't know if the Knighthawk is different or they have redesigned, but my waist strap was a separate piece on each side instead of continuous.)

So I leave the cummerbund fastened behind me for a little lumbar padding, and replaced the lightweight belt/quick release with a standard webbing belt and buckle.
