Has anyone heard anything recently about this liveaboard? Anyone here been aboard to give report?

TIA

Thanks dirtfarmer, I'd read thwt a couple of different places and the solitary glowing report as well.

If there are any readers in here that also post on German dive forums, would you please be so kind as to post about Euphoria there and let me know the results please and thanks in advance.

I just returned from a trip on the Euphoria. My group charted the whole boat. I will post a more in depth trip review when I have time. There are a few things worth mentioning. The entire booking process was seamless. The booking agent was helpful and responsive. When we arrived in Sorong, the van for the ride to the marina was waiting for us at the airport. The boat is spacious and fairly well laid out. It is definitely in need of some maintenance. There are issues with the cabins leaking during rain storms. Several of the cabins leaked and the beds got wet during storms. It would appear that the dining salon has airco but they did not turn it on and said there was none. This lead to very hot and uncomfortable conditions during rain storms when the doors and windows could not be opened. The food was acceptable. There was always a lot of it. It was some what repetitive and not very inspired. Some of the guests were unhappy with the food selections.
Probably the most important notes about this boat are: It is not set up for photographers. There are absolutely no facilities for cameras either on the main boat or on the dive tenders. If you are staying in a cabin as a single then you have the empty bed for your camera gear. If not, there is no place to store it or work on it. Those of us that had cameras commandeered a corner of the dining area. The other important note is that the dive tenders are very inadequate for diving. There are no tank racks, there is no place to put your cameras. They either have you gear up on the dive deck and climb into the tender fully geared up or they pile all of the dive gear in the middle of the tender and everyone has to climb over it to get on the tender.

The staff on the boat were very friendly and accommodating. They tried hard to please. The issues there are really only based on the language barriers and the fact that the only person on board that speaks any English is the manager, and his is limited.

In my opinion this boat should be classed as a budget boat. It is a bit over priced for what you get. If the pricing was right It would be more acceptable. I saw no reason to believe that there is any spear fishing done on board nor is it encouraged. The boat was kept very clean.

The attitude of the manager was a bit to casual for my liking. He ran around the boat in low riding board shorts with no shirt for nearly the entire trip. Not really a pleasant viewing option during meals. I realize that this probably more acceptable to European customers but it was a little distasteful to me. On most days the railings and rigging was covered with staff laundry, hanging out to dry. Again, not a big deal but when paying for a bucket list trip on a fairly expensive boat, one would not expect to spend their surface intervals with a nice view of the crews underwear hanging out to dry.

Considering the other options for live aboards in the area, I think that this boat has some work to do.
