Yes... but direct to Maui without stopping in Honolulu otherwise I would have been able to meet the SB folks there!

That would have been fun....next time....and in 2006 the ferry will be up and running and it will be soooo much easier to visit other Islands to go for a dive or two :D

They're trying a ferry again? It's been tried before. When the score gets up to around Ferry 26, Whales 0 it goes bankrupt.

The "super ferry" will be quite a bit bigger, and should be able to run almost every day, unlike the previous attempts. Also faster, at up to about 40kts.

340' long catamarans. 900 px + 280 vehicles. 3 hours from Honolulu to either Kaua'i or Maui.

pm sent to Uncle Pug.

To all other SB members, I suggest that we just pick a date and boat to meet.

I'll start the ball rolling by arbitrarily picking:

Mike Severns Diving on Saturday December 4th.

Anybody that wants to meet me can just call up Mike Severns at 808-879-6596 and make their reservation. We can figure out lunch and other activities after meeting.

The speed was one of the problems on previous attempts. Unlike the slower cargo boats, the whales never saw the high speed ferry coming. You get hundreds of passenges videoing maimed whales which make it on the news night after night and presto! No more ferry.

I'm just telling you what's happend in the past... Several times...

Charlie... are you booking with Mike Severns for Saturday? Boomx5 and I are going to tomorrow. So far I haven't heard from any other SBers but Boomx5 and I will be going on a three tank charter with Ed Robinson on Friday too.

I'm already booked with Mike Severns for Saturday December 4th. Right now I have a prior committment on Friday, but will try to move it and join you two on Ed Robinson's on Friday.

You may not like the profile Ed Robinson does on the 3 tank charter. It's a fairly agressive profile on air, typically to 130' on a single AL80. IIRC, Ed Robinson doesn't have nitrox, but you can bring your own.
