Hi there. Visiting the keys for the first time ever at the end of this month and am looking for a good restaurant to take my husband to for his birthday. We are staying in the Middle Keys but I am thinking of heading down to KW for his actual Bday. Thanks in advance!

A & B Lobster House for pricey or Alonzo's for not so pricey, both great food and drink

Alabama Jack's, take the card sound road to the keys, they're right before the toll booth. They have the only conch fritters I like.

Seven Mile Grill on the north side of the 7 mile bridge, try the grouper sandwich

whoops! just reread the post, for a special birthday, Louies Backyard

Middle Keys-All you can eat seafood, Whale Harbor Inn

You MUST go to the new SLOPPY JOE'S bar and grill for lunch one day, at least. It has great sloppy joe's, and a great atmosphere.

Mel Fisher's treasure museum is a must as well.

The Ernest Hemingway house is also fascinating and filled with authentic memorabilia.

Sure the seafood restaurants on the wharf are good, but they are not what Key West is all about. You would remember Sloppy Joe's the rest of your life.

You guys (and gals) are awesome! Are there any "really traditional" Key West/Keys foods that we should try? or drinks? Hmmmm frosty beverages! I can't hardly wait!!

Stay away from the conch fritters they are nasty!

Giant sea bass aka grouper are however delicious, like cod, only chewy-er.

Key West - Pepe's for Breakfast, BO's Fishwagon for Lunch (both on Caroline St.) and Turtle Kraals for dinner! (After a sunset cruise on the Western Union!) :D

Oh, and some of us like conch fritters! And sea bass IS NOT grouper, although often passed off as such.

Tratorrias Italian restaurant and Old Town Mex restaurant in Key west on Duval.
