"Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of the international smash hit manga and trading card game Yu-Gi-Oh!, was found dead in southern Japan, the country’s Coast Guard said Thursday. His body was discovered on Wednesday floating off the coast of Nago in Okinawa Prefecture. Mr. Takahashi was traveling alone in Nago, a popular vacation destination, and had apparently been snorkeling when he died from unknown causes, a Coast Guard spokesman said. He was 60."

Just want to add Nago is on the main island of Okinawa. On the northern end of the island. Also if he was found in Nago proper he probably drifted there as he car was found in Onna which is a town a bit south of Nago.

An update to this story. Takahashi attempted to aid a US Army officer (and scuba instructor) in rescuing two people from a riptide. He died during the attempt. The officer was there at Mermaid's Grotto with two students.
