I kayak a fair amount, ours are all sit-ins but I've used SOTs. Never dove from any, but diving from a sit-in kayak just doesn't sound like a good time to me.

I'd like to try it if I can reliably get back in without swamping. I'll try it in controlled conditions first. Maybe with my sailboat anchored nearby and the kayak tied to it...

I don’t know if I would ever dive from a sit inside kayak. I don’t kayak dive I rather just swim there tbh. But I’ve been fishing in a sit inside once in 1-2’ waves and didn’t like it one bit sank it once thankfully close to shore in shallow water. Did a trip later with a sit on top and never was worried about flipping it over at all.

Kayak dive all the time & I'm a little old lady!
