All,
Well it finally happened. After close to two years of wishing I went for my first open water class last night and had a great time. The instructor at NTD is fantastic, and it really proves the adage, "It's not the agency, it's the instructor."
A few anecdotes about the pool session:
I arrive(late, my bad) do the classroom work and the required paperwork, and we get to the pool and start doing some basic skills(face in water, inflating the BCD, etc.), and we are then asked if we are comfortable enough to go to the deep end of the pool(12' deep I think). We start finning toward the deep end, and I start down the incline. I get about half way down the incline....and I get this splitting ear ache. I think to myself for a second."What the hell?!?!" Then just as fast as I think it, I forgot to equalize!(DOH!!!!) So I stop, equalize, pain goes away(instant relief), and we continue down the slope.
Anyway, all things considered, it went well the first time. I am now hooked(sorry).
Hope to see some of you in the water!
