Please help.

I just purchased a Halcyon Flare Dive Light. This light has a canister and I need to attach it to my wing.

I don't know the right way to do this.

Should I have the cord facing behind me. The advantage of this is that when I am out of the water I can thread the canister into the light mounting.

Should I have the cord facing towards me? I mean should I have the cord in a straight path to the lighthead or should there be a bend?

Also, should I take the entire assembly off of the wing after every dive or just the battery. I am concerned because it is a lot of effort to do this. Also is there a possibility of getting the contacts wet?

Please help

Normally it goes on the waistbelt facing up, held in place by an extra buckle. I've never seen how the flare comes out of the box, but there should be a piece of webbing that forms a belt loop when connected with the stainless steel hose clamps that it should have.

How to mount canister light?

Facing up, does that mean that the cord is pointing toward you or facing behind you. Also, should I dissassemble the light every time I go diving or should I take it off every time?

The cord faces up.
The slot you see on the upper part of the battery is for the 2" wide webbing of your waist belt.
The battery is held in place with an additional belt buckle, that you purchase separately.

The light head is held in your left hand.

If necessary, I can take pictures and post them. But hopefully it's clear now.

Cheers
Mitch

I forgot to mention. You remove it after your day of diving.
Just remove the aforementioned belt buckle and slide the light off.

I throw it in a milk crate along with my backup lights, bottom timer, compass, wet notes, spare mask and other small gear items.

Thanks. What do you use to store your light between diving?
I've just handled it in a store, but IIRC, you rotate the handle to protect the face of the light when you store it. You can also stick it in small padded reg bag or similar if you want extra protection.

Those LEDs from Halcyon are pretty robust. My 21w HID (less robust but better than an 18w) just hangs out in a crate with all my other clippables.
